My sleeping beauty! |
"I can fit into any size box. Just watch." |
This page is dedicated to my baby boy, Kiowa. If you have surfed this site, you might have noticed that Kiowa has the same name as the type of helicopter that Bernd flies. It is no coincidence. You see, Bernd is not that fond of cats... so I thought that if I named Kiowa after something Bernd admires, he might grow found of him. Bernd will tell you that Kiowa, the cat not the helicopter, is a good for nothing fur ball... but truth be told, I think he loves him as much as I do. Okay... well not as much as I do. Bernd has told me that should he die, he hopes he comes back as my cat -- because nothing in this world is better taken care of than my cat. I am not sure if I should take that as a compliment or an insult.
Kiowa was born on December 1, 1997, in Ozark, Alabama, and joined our family on January 13, 1998. He is a Seal-Point Himalayan and has blue eyes (as do all Himalayans). You will notice that my Himalayan does not look like he ran into a wall like most others. I went to great lengths to find a breeder that does not try to "breed" the recessed-face feature into their "stock". To learn more about Himalayans, click here.
Kiowa is strictly an in-door cat. He gets combed everyday (that I am not traveling) and a bath every other month. Three times a year I get his hair cut to keep it manageable. (Do not worry. It grows back just fine.) I am a major cat food snob, so Kiowa only gets to eat Hill's Science Diet dry cat food.
Now Kiowa is not an ordinary cat; and I am not just saying that because I am his mother. He enjoys people and does not hide when we have visitors. He is a great traveler, not only in the car, but on an airplane too. And, of course, he flies IN the cabin with me.
This may all seem extreme but he is my baby and I love him dearly (and so does Bernd)!
